This northern Dallas suburb spans 27.1 square miles and boasts 84,246 residents. The community has 17 elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. Some students also attend the high school in nearby Lovejoy. Allen has attractions appropriate for all ages ranging from a 20,000 square foot facility housing wall-to-wall trampolines to arcades, golf courses and a senior event center. Allen has 40 parks and more than 47 miles of paved bike and hike trails. Sports enthusiasts find everything from ballparks to an ice rink and skateboard park. The Hydrous Wake Park features three separate lakes and remains a popular destination for wakeboarding. Shopping opportunities abound and the community has 180 restaurants and treat shops.
